Socio-Ecologist: Sustainable Living Lands Project
Soutpansberg Protected Area
TThe EWT seeks to employ a full-time Socio-Ecologist, primarily (but not exclusively) to implement its Sustainable Living Lands Project in the Western Soutpansberg, Limpopo Province.
The Socio-ecologist: Sustainable Living Lands (Soutpansberg Protected Area) is responsible for the implementation of community-based conservation initiatives mainly in the Soutpansberg, with contributions in Vhembe and other parts of Limpopo as required. The position requires extensive engagement and collaboration with community stakeholders and partners, including the co-development and implementation of diverse socio-ecological projects, Education for Sustainable Development, One Health, and other initiatives.
Unit Manager:
Biodiversity and Business Unit
The Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and confident leader to drive the strategic development and daily operations of the Biodiversity and Business Unit (BBU). The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the strategic direction, managing operations, and leading project development within the BBU. Main responsibilities include but not limited to updating and implementing the existing strategy, expanding EWT’s Biodiversity Disclosure Project offerings, representing the organization at industry events, fostering partnerships, and securing funding for the BBU. While knowledge of financial accounting, sustainable finance, or policy negotiation at a national level is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement.
Field Officer – Drakensberg
(Landscape Protected Area Expansion and Support African Crane Conservation Project)
This position will work within the ICF/EWT African Crane Conservation Program partnership, specifically focusing on protected area expansion, landscape restoration, and post-declaration support across the Drakensberg Grassland Landscape. This position will aim to expand and support South Africa’s protected areas network for the benefit of people and biodiversity. This will be achieved through ground truthing and implementing the landscape-level priority plans for expanding the protected area network using the Biodiversity Stewardship approach and exploring alternative options to securing critical biodiversity habitats, improving the ecological integrity of priority sites, developing and implementing post-proclamation support, empowering land users in sustainable management practices, providing support for species monitoring, increasing awareness of and addressing key threats to biodiversity. This will all be underpinned by working closely with local communities and exploring habitat restoration opportunities across key areas. The field officer will also focus on landowner relationship development, developing management plans, and securing sustainable finance opportunities (particularly carbon offsetting projects) to unlock post-proclamation support.

Restoring Landscapes in South Africa Project
This position aims to build resilience for the benefit of people and biodiversity. This will be achieved through ground truthing and implementing the landscape-level priority plans for expanding the protected area network using the Biodiversity Stewardship approach and exploring alternative options to securing critical biodiversity habitats, improving the ecological integrity of priority sites, developing and implementing post proclamation support, empowering land users in sustainable management practices, providing support for species monitoring, increasing awareness of and addressing key threats to biodiversity. This will all be underpinned by working closely with indigenous people and local communities and exploring habitat restoration opportunities across key areas.
Medike Reserve and Hospitality Manager
Soutpansberg Protected Area
The Endangered Wildlife Trust’s Medike Reserve & Hospitality Manager (or Management Couple) will be passionate about conservation and tourism. They will be hardworking and self-motivated, with a passion for learning about the region, its biodiversity, and its communities. They will also be passionate about people, have friendly and approachable personality, and be happy to deal with guest inquiries and complaints. The incumbent will have a good knowledge of basic infrastructure maintenance and reserve/farm management. They will share the EWT’s vision of establishing an inclusive conservation-oriented protected area that protects its threatened wildlife and its important ecosystems. They will share the EWT’s values and purpose, and as such become an integral part of the EWT family, striving to conserve threatened wildlife and ecosystems to the benefit of all.

The Digital Designer (Digital & Motion Graphics) is an essential member of the Marketing & Communications Team, working under the Digital Marketing Manager to create visually captivating digital content and dynamic motion graphics that enhance EWT’s brand narrative and showcase its impact to a global audience. This role focuses on producing a diverse range of visual assets that support conservation and fundraising initiatives and engage various audiences.

This will be achieved through ground truthing and implementing the landscape-level priority plans for expanding the protected area network through specific focus on Biodiversity Stewardship and exploring alternative options to securing critical biodiversity habitats, improving the ecological integrity of priority sites, developing and implementing post proclamation support and incentives on secured sites, empowering land users and owners in sustainable management practices, identifying and providing community benefit/socio-economic initiatives, increasing awareness of and addressing key threats to biodiversity.
