Dainfern Golf Day 2025

Dainfern Golf Day 2025

As ardent lovers of sport and the great outdoors, South Africans are often spotted supporting worthy causes through their participation in sporting days.  As part of the EWTs fundraising efforts, we are touring our beautiful and naturally diverse country to host four golf days in the coming months.  The fourth and final event for the year, will be held at Dainfern Golf Club on the 23rd of October 2025, proudly sponsored by AlexForbes. This is an ideal opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, enjoy playing a few strokes and to support a great cause – the work of the Endangered Wildlife Trust.  We still have a few fourballs spots available and there are loads of incredible prizes and goodies for golfers hitting the greens in support of conservation.

Four-ball cost: R6 000 (includes halfway house, dinner and 2x golf carts)
RSVP: To secure your spot, please contact Tammy Baker at Endangered Wildlife Trust via email at tammyb@ewt.org or by phone on 082 903 2152.

Don’t miss out on the chance to enjoy a day of golf while supporting a great cause.

The highveld weather was at its very best on the 17th of October at the Dainfern Golf Estate, as our fourballs lined up for their shotgun start.

The day just got better from there as we were treated to a beautiful aerial display by an African Harrier Hawk and some spirited, competitive golf under the glorious Joburg sun.

After a few good hours out on the course (which ran a bit long for some new to the game) and a some sundowners on the deck, we kicked off our prize-giving with a heartfelt address from Avishal Seeth of Alexforbes. Avi thanked everyone for attending and reminded us of the importance of conserving our precious wildlife and the landscapes that we depend on, for the next generation and many more to come.

The crowd was filled with well-known regulars and many new faces. Our skilled auctioneer and friend, Michael Scholz, aka the 40-year-old rookie, was in top form during the auction, helping us exceed our fundraising target.

A big thank you to Colette Van Dyk and the team at Alexforbes for sponsoring the day and bringing in your own fourballs. Thank you to our loyal supporters and all our new ones. Special thanks to aha Hotels and Lodges, our long-term cherished donors, as well as new partners, Dream Resorts and Hotels, for sponsoring some incredible prizes. Thank you to Painted Wolf Wines for joining us, and to ReWorx, our new supporter. Thanks to everyone who made this day such a success, including Indaba Hotel, Trappers Traders, Grill House Sandton, Dinokeng Game Reserve, Greenfinch lodge, Renaissance spa Sandton, Kloofzicht Lodge and spa, Glenburn lodge and spa and African Hills Safari Lodge.

A bit more about the auction:

What is the purpose of the auction?  Hosting an auction such as this raises much needed funds for essential projects that The EWT does and boosts destination tourism for the amazing towns and communities where our sponsors have donated auction items from.  This, in turn, benefits people, jobs, well-being and everyone connected to the towns and communities where the projects and tourism takes place. Which can then in-turn revive small town economies.

What items will be auctioned? The auction comprises mainly special accommodation prizes, which are  based in wonderful parts of our beautiful country. These have been generously sponsored by our long-term supporters. Special thanks to go2africaThornybushaHa hotels and lodgesRitsakoFleur de Soleil and many others. Special thanks to The Expedition Project for hosting our online auction.

Why those items? Where did the items come from?  These items promote destination tourism which, in the long term benefits the communities living in proximity to the lodges and stays on auction.  These prizes have been sourced from both long-term and new supporters of The Endangered Wildlife Trust and The Expedition Project.   There is still time to get involved by donating items of any kind, and of course by supporting our auction. We are hosting an online auction which closes on 2 June, as well as two live auctions. One at our Copperleaf golf day on the 24th of May and the other at our Stellenbosch golf day on the 31 May. Products and services can be sponsored by using the form at the bottom of the Donors page here.

May Golf Day Madness

May Golf Day Madness

May Golf Day Madness

Tammy Baker, the EWT’s Business Development Unit

Golf Days are a ton of work, but the reward is worth it. The new friendships that are formed and the relationships built are what I live for. We smashed all previous fundraising records at our two annual golf days held in May, and this is all thanks to our loyal supporters, who, like me, believe in our incredible staff and the amazing conservation work that the EWT achieves day in and day out.

Alexforbes generously sponsored our Stellenbosch golf day for the second year. The Alexforbes staff, their clients, and our faithful Cape Town supporters made for a memorable event, despite what can only be described as gale-force winds. We lost three gazebos to the weather, but our brave golfers played on. Stellenbosch is beautiful, no matter the conditions, and I always enjoy being in this part of our beautiful country. Our prizegiving, dinner, and auction were festive, and we raised much-needed funds for the EWT, thanks to an awesome group of supporters. We introduced the EWT-Alexforbes floating trophy this year, which was taken home by the winning fourball from Alexforbes, team captain Dave Thomson.

We held our second golf day for May at the beautiful Copperleaf Golf Estate, proudly supported by one of our most cherished partners, the Ford Wildlife Foundation. I had the rare stress of selling too many fourballs, and we sold out at 34 fourballs for the day. The winter highveld weather did not disappoint, with mild temperatures and beautiful blue skies. We had a record number of sponsored holes, which created an enjoyable vibe on the course for our players. The club hosted 160 golfing and wildlife enthusiasts for dinner, prize giving, and an auction. Our EWT Ford Wildlife Foundation floating trophy was taken home by the winning fourball from Intocast. As always, our MC and auctioneer, Mike Scholz, was in top form, and we smashed all previous fundraising records at this event.

This success would not have been possible without our very generous prize givers:
